Conradh na Gaeilge’s Archive of the Irish Language Revival to be catalogued and made available to the public
Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs, Seán Kyne T.D., announced today that he has approved a grant of €115,000 for Conradh na Gaeilge to catalogue its archives.
An Claidheamh Soluis 1917-1932 will be digitised and made available online. Reports and correspondence in the possession of Conradh na Gaeilge and the National Library will also be organised in order to be made available to the public.
Announcing the grant, Minister of State Kyne said:
“This matter is of great importance in making the Irish language aspect of Irish History available to the public. I understand that universities in the US are willing to work with Conradh na Gaeilge on various research initiatives relating to the link between the Irish Language Revival movement and the establishment of the State, and that Irish universities are also very interested in assisting with this work. I am very pleased to see the level of interest in the project, both here at home and worldwide, and I wish those involved every success with the next phase.”
