Information Requests

The Freedom of Information Acts assert the right of members of the public to obtain access to official information to the greatest extent possible consistent with the public interest and the right to privacy of individuals. Information on what rights are available under the Freedom of Information Acts, how to make requests under the Acts and the fees that may be charged are available by following the links to the left of this page.

A guide to the operation of the Freedom of Information Acts and the functions, records, rules and practices of the Department in that regard is also available by following the link to the left of this page. This reference book has been prepared and published in accordance with the requirements of Section 15 and Section 16 of the Freedom of Information Act, 1997.

Details of requests made to the Department under the Freedom of Information Acts and under the Access to Information on the Environment Regulations 2007 are also available by following the link to the left of this page.

Teachtaí Dála (T.D.s) are entitled to put Parliamentary Questions (PQs) to the Minister in relation to matters for which she and her Department are responsible. Oral Questions are answered by the Minister on the floor of Dáil Éireann approximately once every five weeks. Both Questions and Answers are published on the website of the Houses of the Oireachtas.
